Maps, Trail Signs, and Trail Name Improvement

One of the big problems we face here in the Ukiah Valley is that few of our trails are signed. You just have to know your way around or be willing to be lost. Most of the trails at Lake Mendocino don’t even have names. Our trail plans all stress the importance of naming and signing trails.

Not only does labeling make it easier for people to get out and use the trails, it improves safety. If you have a cell phone, a trail name, and a broken leg – you can not only call for help, but you can tell people where you are. We think that would be nice (except for the broken leg). Once we crack through the bureaucracies and get permission to name the trails, putting up signs should be relatively easy. Join our list of supporters and add to our power of persuasion. Once we have trail names we can also make serious efforts towards producing nice trail maps.
